Grocery shopping

This afternoon I went with Maggie downtown while she did some shopping, and I took a few pictures. The grocery stores here aren't too different than the stores in the States:

But then again, .....

Here's a quick price comparison. This package of Keebler cookies costs 119 pesos, or around $3.50. They do have a variety of American foods here, but they can be quite expensive. I saw a small bag of Hershey's Kisses for around $6.

Checking out...

Usually the best fruit and veggies aren't found at the grocery stores. You have to go to the fruit and vegetable markets for those. This is the fruit market we usually go to:

This store specializes in fruit, but they have everything: watermelons, papaya, mango, limes, pineapple, bananas, musk mellon, and other tropical fruits I can't name, as well as potatoes, carrots, garlic cloves, boxed cereals, paper cups, boxed milk, onions, jams and jellies, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, yogurt, energy drinks, and the list goes on and on!
Here are some plastic barrels of rice and various types of beans sitting by the door:

I love the smell of the pineapple!
