I've been just laying low this weekend, trying to catch up on sleep (which isn't easy; I can't seem to sleep in) and I've been working ahead in my online classes. We only have one team this fall, so I should have no trouble staying on top of my course assignments. (Whew!)
Some interesting tidbits from the past couple of days:
Our creepy bedroom bug-guest returned Friday night, and we got him with my flipflop. :-)
Yesterday we went to town and I got my cell phone.
Last night, Chastity, Alicia, Christian, Melvin, Katie, and I went to the new taco stand in town for supper, then we hung out at Alicia's and watched a movie, listened to jokes that had no point (they were so stupid they were halarious!), watched the lightning from the approaching thunderstorm, and I listened (or tried to, lol) as the rest of them got into a deep discussion--or debate--regarding some local superstitions about the spirit world. Very interesting...
Spanish is not easy, and the sloppy local way of speaking makes it even harder. And they talk so fast! I can pick out quite a few words, but I can't string them together fast enough in my mind to make a coherent meaning. I still have a long way to go!
I was thinking that it might be cool to get some pictures or video of town to post here so you can all "experience" part of Dominican culture. Walking around town with a camera is like walking around town with the word "tourist" stamped on your forehead, so I don't do it often!
We have church this afternoon, so this morning I think I'll read and work on Spanish.

video out and about town would be really cool, although, I can understand that you don't want to go places with tourist stamped all over you!
